What a turnout :)

The turnout over the Easter weekend far exceeded all of our expectations and has made us extremely excited about the summer season to come.

The weather did indeed provide a mixed bag of wind, sun and rain. Fortunately the rain held off for our litter pick on Friday morning. The dinghy parks, main road verges and common lane are now litter free and we really appreciate the efforts of all our volunteer collectors and bakers for their support with this community wide event.

Particularly hardy souls ventured out to race in our 1st on the Water race series held on Friday, Saturday and Monday. Congratulations to the winners of the handicap 1st on the water and Hawk fleet 1st on the water series. There was also a strong turnout in rather blustery conditions for the Easter Egg race on Sunday morning. Chocolate prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places are available for collection in the clubhouse (until the staff are no longer able to resist temptation). Full results are available to view on the website: https://www.bssc.net/sailing/results Also on Sunday, our junior members took part in a predictably enthusiastic Easter Egg hunt around the Clubhouse after breakfast.

Indoor fixtures were amazingly popular across the whole weekend. Our "60 minutes of Minuty" on Friday evening was such a runaway success, we are considering renaming the event "Minuty Madness". Look out for future Friday night promotions throughout the year!

Plenty of you took time out from boat rigging to come and watch the Oxford and Cambridge boat race on Saturday afternoon and the Launching Supper on Saturday night was also fully booked.

We can only assume that everyone is exhausted after all this activity. We have decided to postpone the Murder Mystery evening (due next Friday) due to insufficient bookings.

It was agreed by the General Committee to change the car park and dinghy park layout slightly. We haven't moved anyone unnecessarily but a few changes have been made. It is hoped that the changes will ease congestion in the members car park and prevent the need for double parking. All the details be communicated in a separate email later this week.

Bookings for powerboat courses have been coming in thick and fast. If you would like to take a PB2 course this year, we advise you book soon. https://www.bssc.net/booking/type/untitled If you are interested in taking a safety boat course please contact Nick Williams directly bssccourses@gmail.com to arrange a date during the summer.

There is no racing scheduled next weekend but Bruce and Sarah Kemp are planning a fleet training event on Saturday April 6th. Mostly aimed at the laser 2000s but other fleets are very welcome. The aim is to launch at 3.30pm for a series of short races and starting practice. If you would like help rigging before hand they will be at the club from 2pm. Every participating boat will be offered a harbour map sticker, so even if you are new to BSSC (or new to racing) and unsure where the racing marks are located, this session will be a real confidence booster. Contact bsscsarah@gmail.com if you have any queries. All participants and their families are invited to join up for supper in the club at 7.30pm. Please email the_clubhouse@bssc.net to book. A pre order from the menu below would be much appreciated.

Racing resumes on Saturday 13th with Captain's Cup at 09:30. We will be showing live coverage of the Grand National from Aintree with a fun sweep stake at the bar from 17:00. The Hawk Spring series begins on Sunday 14th at 10:00.

Please view our a la carte menus below and it is always advisable to book ahead by email. the_clubhouse@bssc.net
