The very mixed weather last week didn't deter our intrepid young Dinghy Instructor Candidates who all passed their course on Friday afternoon. Many thanks to Jemma for the photos - available to view on our Facebook page.

Unfortunately, storm Kathleen put paid to our plans for on the water 2000 fleet training. We still had a very productive afternoon of rigging, tuning and theory sessions on (ironically) "light wind sailing" from Bill Knights and "how to sail faster" from Tim Andrews. Thanks to all the instructors who came along to help the less experienced sailors get rigged up. We hope to see you all on the water very soon.

Our next race coaching event is planned for the May bank holiday weekend. We are keen to find out how many members would be interested in this three day tuition.

Please let us know if you are interested as soon as possible by signing up on our booking page https://www.bssc.net/event/1005657. Places will be limited to 9 boats so this will allow for great quality tuition as well as experience of start line tactics with other "competitors". Participants must be aged 16 years or over, able to launch and recover their boat from the hard and beach (in on-shore and off-shore winds) and sail a triangular course, under control, in most conditions. We will cover: racing theory, rules, boat set up and weather. We won't be covering: sailing basics. If you wish to borrow one of the club boats for this, or any of our coaching events, please contact Jim Blades. More information regarding club boats can be found on our website.

The NCI Brancaster now have a fully operational weather station installed on their Coastwatch Station roof. BSSC members are invited to download the Davis app - just look for this logo in the App Store. You will be guided through a simple account set up process and will be able to check current conditions from any Davis station in the world! To view current and forecast conditions at Brancaster, search for Brancaster_NCI.

Racing resumes at BSSC this Saturday 13th at 09:30 with Captain's Cup for all dinghy racers. The Hawk Spring series begins on Sunday 14th at 10:00. Please don't forget to sign up for on the water volunteering https://www.bssc.net/roster we will be serving breakfast in the clubhouse after racing this weekend and always thank our volunteers with a complimentary hot drink and breakfast roll.

In the clubhouse we will be showing live coverage of the Grand National from Aintree with a fun sweep stake at the bar from 16:00 on Saturday afternoon.
