Dinghy parking and social calendar info

Finally, we had some much needed rain last week, but we're back to mild temperatures and sunshine again now. Early spring weather really has been remarkable this year. This may have prompted a lot of members to think about getting back out on the water. Many of you have been asking about dinghy, kayak and SUP parking. Here's what you need to know: - If you have a space, it is vital that you complete your membership renewal on time.
- If you have changed your boat, it is a club rule that you let us know, so that we can allocate the appropriate sized space. Buying a boat from another club member does NOT guarantee that you will also get the space.
- We have a waiting list for all categories of dinghy parking, despite the addition of the kayak rack last year providing a lot more storage space. The sooner you can get yourself on a waiting list, the better chance you will have to secure a space when one becomes available.
- Once the renewal deadline has passed, we will be able to see what spaces have been relinquished and only then will we be able to begin to allocate spaces to people waiting.
- We do everything possible to ensure the maximum number of boats can be stored at BSSC, if you no longer need your space, please let us know so that it can be reallocated to a fellow club member. If you find you need a space in the future, you will find it much easier to get one if the system not stagnated with members holding onto spaces they no longer need.
Unfortunately, we have not achieved the minimum number of bookings needed for our murder mystery evening this Friday. So we have decided to postpone the event until Friday 28th April. Please look at our online calendar showing all upcoming social events.
The clubhouse bar will open from 16:00 on Saturday 25th for the 6 Nations England V Wales match. This will be broadcast live from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff at 16:45 and promises to be one of the most exciting games of the tournament.
There is still space to book for lunch this Sunday, the menu is shown below (apologies for last week's typo, we will be serving lamb instead of pork so do let us know if you'd like to change your preorder). Peter Harvey, the author of Imray's new pilot book will be making an after lunch presentation about the development of the book along with some tips about sailing in the Wash and the Humber. If you'd like to come along to hear the talk, you can pop into the clubhouse around 14:00 - 14:30pm or book for one of the later lunch slots.
There may be a road closure on Main Road in the vicinity of Harbour Way next Monday and Tuesday (27th & 28th February) and a signed diversion will be in place if this is the case. Access to Harbour way may be disrupted on these days.
Keith and Alex will be away on annual leave from Tuesday 28th February until Wednesday 15th March. The Clubhouse will be closed during this time and we will not be available to answer emails or phone queries. If you are having any difficulties with your membership renewal, please get in touch this week either by emailing the_clubhouse@bssc.net or call 07747 597902 and we will do our best to help guide you through the process. If you need a new boat parking space, please get in touch directly and we can add you to the waiting list.
We are still recruiting for an assistant chef, an assistant bar manager and additional bar and kitchen staff to start work at the beginning of April.
We do hope to see you all soon. |
