"And they're off!"

There was a fabulous buzz about the clubhouse this weekend, for many members, it was the first opportunity of the season to bring their boats out of winter storage and catch up with friends. The Frostbite series of three races started at a sedate pace, with very little wind, on Friday morning but everyone seemed in high spirits when they got back to the clubhouse for breakfast. There was even less wind on Saturday morning and the Hawk fleet decided to bow out. The launching supper on Saturday evening was fully booked and everyone seemed to have a great time and gave a warm welcome to our two new, full time members of staff, Tess and Ollie. On Sunday Morning the predicted light breeze and sunshine arrived late, missing the start of the Easter egg race. Sailors who did go out to the harbour were (eventually) rewarded with lovely conditions when they got there and Easter eggs (by default) when they got back. Plenty of keen, young junior members came for the Clubhouse Easter egg hunt and Sunday lunch was also fully booked. Incredibly, despite pouring rain this morning, a few hardy souls competed in the 3rd race of the Frostbite series. Congratulations Will Ellison - overall winner. All results can be found on the club website.
There are no sailing races scheduled for next weekend but we will be showing The Randox Grand National Steeple Chase scheduled to start at 17:15, live coverage begins at 3pm. Do join us in the clubhouse for tea and cakes (or something stronger). Keith will be running a fun sweepstake for the 50 riders & horses participating, tickets are £2 per entry and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places.
Friday 14th April: The Clubhouse bar will be open from 17:00 with dinner service from 18:00 until 21:00 Saturday 15th April: The Clubhouse will be open from 11:30 until 22:00. Lunch will be available from 12:00 until 15:00. Grand National Coverage from 15:00 and dinner from 18:00 until 21:00. Sunday 9th April: Lunch is available from 12:00-15:00
Lots of members have been asking about boats for sale. Please do post for items wanted in the Classifieds area of the website and if you have items for sale, this is the best place to advertise. It would be great to get this going again. If you are keen to sail different boats then make use of the Crew / Boat finder feature in the member's hub, where members can detail their availability and preferences or look for boats to sail.
There are still some tickets left for our interactive Murder Mystery dinner on Friday 28th April. "Murder at Sea" is an evening of intrigue set on an American cruise liner, the Libertania. Members and their guests will play the parts of crew and passengers (we'd love you to dress the part) and must uncover the murderer before the Libertania arrives in port at 22:30. Tickets cost £30 and includes 3 course dinner and a glass of Prosecco. Please book by email and let us know your character preference - "Crew" or "Passenger". We will do our best to accommodate your request. |

Please find below our Spring a la carte menus. There will also be sweet and savoury bar snacks available all day, and specials on the board. We have introduced more information to the menu regarding special dietary requirements and many dishes are available as gluten free, so please do ask us when ordering your food and we will do everything possible to accommodate requests.
As always, we recommend reserving a table in advance by email especially for large groups.
We do hope to see you all soon |
